Everyone wants to feature a seasonal skating rink but not everyone has the budget to do so. Each year we feature a limited number of Holiday break and Year End specials so that interested clients can still feature skating for the holidays without breaking the bank. In our experience the heaviest traffic occurs during Thanksgiving weekend and again the week prior to the Christmas week. This year with one additional week in December, we are able to offer 20-30 day rink rentals from Dec 17 starting from $250 per day! To help make these packages even more attractive, we are offering clients the opportunity to extend these rentals into January at no additional charge. Imagine featuring a skating rink from Dec 17 to Jan 30 for under $5K?

New Year’s Eve is also a popular events date and every year we offer our 1st Night Promo with rink packages from 1200-2400 sq. ft. for under $3K. Due to demand the number of rinks available for Dec 31 is very limited and offered on a first come first served basis.

Just for Fun or host a fundraising event for your PTA or booster club. Special 3 day packages available starting under $1000. Available weekdays only schools can reserve an 30′ x 40′ economy rink package for 1-3 days at just $979.00 plus delivery and staffing if required.

With delivery the above special offer averages under $500/day. Previous schools have sold advertising to cover these costs and chose to offer skating for free or charge admission as a fun raising activity. At 30 skaters per session, and two – 20 minute sessions per hour, many schools have pre-sold tickets to turn a profit.

Save money by running your own event. BHS will provide you with a ticket system and liability waiver template. Requests for additional insurance certificates are subject to an administrative fee.

SHOW & SKATE FUNDRAISERS

Looking for a new fundraising idea? Why not host a holiday skating show at your school and sell tickets? Our Show & Skate packages feature a 30 minute seasonal show featuring professional skaters, and the necessary skating stage and lighting. 1 day only, with up to 4 performances. Depending on the size of your school’s auditorium or MPR the revenue potential is based on the number of tickets you think you can sell.

The rink proved to be a successful draw for the casino last year with retail sales of its outdoor gondola ride which traveled around the rink, increasing by 25%. This year the resort has opened a brand new restaurant rink side and so attendance is likely to increase and therefore we’re anticipating a very busy season for our staff.

In 2011 our Winter in Venice rink was voted among the worlds top 1o coolest rinks by Travel and Leisure magazine based on it’s prime location under the lights of the strip and nightly light show. We’re hoping to find ourselves on that list again this year as we make some minor tweaks and the resort plans to feature additional seasonal treats including a Venetian marketplace and entertainment.

BHS has launched a production company StudioSK8 and has developed an impressive repertoire of professional skaters and specialty acts who perform not only on our non-refrigerated rinks but real ice rink installations as well.

Many of our clients request single or team appearances to add some razzle dazzle to their event, and interact with their guests. Finding that personality who is not only a quality performer but who is also confident and personable enough to talk to guests is often difficult, but is the defining criteria that we use in selecting our professional team.

Just in time for the holidays, clients can request our ICE ANGELS to help host their event. Beauty and brains, dressed in seasonal costumes, ICE ANGELS are living decor and will help add to the atmosphere of any any event. For the holiday season, whether the angles are dressed in flowing white, or as angelic elves, guests will be delighted.

Need more sparkle? GLITTER GIRLS offer the same seasonal opportunities, just with more sequins, glitter and pizazz. If there’s one thing skating show girls love it’s more bling.

If your audience is younger and you’re looking for something more animated then we offer a selection of fun mascots who are capable skaters and full of personality. Despite what many may think, mascot performing is a true art form and far more difficult than other types of entertainment. Not only are the costumes very hot, but it takes as significant amount of talent to move in the giant outfits, perform specific skating skills, convey a sense of personality of the character and interact with small children bounding with excitement. Oh, and did I forget to mention that you are often blind? Imagine skating in the dark in a place where you might bump into or trip over a small child. Very challenging. Lucky for us we have just right people who love these challenges and most of all enjoy working with kids who can’t help but smile when Charlie the Polar Bear skates around the corner.

Just like our rink packages, we price our entertainment services just as affordability so that we continue to have the opportunity to bring skating to the masses. Our price points fall between amateur entertainment and high end theatrical shows, offering the best of both worlds, and a quality experience for our skaters, our clients and their guests.

Ice skating continues to grow in popularity and lately several new skating companies have popped up, each trying to capitalize on this trend. What continues to keep BH Skating on top of this trend is our understanding that ice skating is not just an activity, it’s an experience. As a company of skaters we approach our events the same way we approached preparing for competitions and ice shows in our younger days. It’s about putting in the prep work, getting help from the experts, knowing the expectations of the judges (clients), practicing our craft, finding the perfect outfit for that added pizzazz and executing the performance with minimal faults, and a smile (despite the hard work). We know that it’s not just the big tricks, but everything in between that gets the biggest score, and that failure can travel with you, and is therefore not an option.

It is our goal to treat every BHS event as we would preparing a skater for competition. Well rehearsed, confident, perfect image and not a hair out of place. Of course perfection has its challenges and the road to success is often difficult and full of trials. Just like a skater we face each obstacle, learn from them, and do our best to ensure that our audience and judges are unaware and are able to focus on the overall performance.

These may all seem like common ideals however just like athletes not everyone is successful in navigating each step, and only a small percentage of all skaters and coaches make it to the big leagues. BHS is one of these leaders and has successfully developed a program plan for producing gold medal events that are in demand worldwide.

These worldwide partners include a growing partnership with W Hotels Worldwide and this year year we are proud to be working with properties in Taiwan, Hawaii, Los Angeles and Scottsdale, AZ, in addition to events being hosted in Las Vegas, Lousianna, Arkansas, Texas as well as event throughout Canada, and throughout SE Asia, with expansion in South America planned for 2013.

For us it means school’s definitely in session as we work hard updating inventory, coordinating shipping and deliveries, designing special programming features for clients, recruiting professionals, producing entertainment options and all the while coordinating all of these activities to create one perfect image of the perfect skating event, in hopes of getting an ‘A’ from our clients.

Not only are we focused on our seasonal productions, and event rentals, but we are equally dedicated to the development of our StudioSK8 skating club centers at the center of the BHS brand, a contemporary approach to learning to skate, skating parties and special events.

It’s back to school for StudioSK8 too as we prepare for our first event of the season, a month and a half long Fall/Octoberfest event that will feature a special Halloween Event and continue through mid Nov. Included in the seasonal activities we will be featuring lesson opportunities, our traditional fun skate public skating opportunities and our popular skating party packages.

We’re excited that our schedule is close to 90% complete, and while we are busy we do still have a few open spaces which we anticipate will be reserved by many of our regular clients. For quality control purposes we limit the number of full-service seasonal rinks we manage however we are always excited to work with new clients and with the development of our worldwide markets the possibilities are endless.

As we set out on the next few months we will be focused on the holiday season and pre-planning for 2013. Watch for mid-term updates at which time I’m confident that we’ll have some exciting announcements to make.

The Westfield Woden and Westfield Belconnen, each located in Australia’s capital city of Canberra, the country’s largest inland city and the eighth-largest city overall. The city is located at the northern end of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), 280 km (170 mi) south-west of Sydney, and 660 km (410 mi) north-east of Melbourne.

Coming off the heels of a successful event in Bendigo, 2 hours northwest of Melbourne, we are excited to continue to expand our brand throughout the Australian coast and into Sydney as well. Demand for more events continues with a possible return to the Bendigo area in September and possible holiday season rinks in surrounding regions of Southeast Asia.

Expansion into this new market began last year when working in the extreme heat of the Arizona desert we a simple comment about it being winter somewhere on the planet, turned into an discussion about Australia and everyone’s desire to travel there at least once in their lifetime. On a whim we launched an impromptu marketing campaign through the province of NSW and to our delight we began to receive several interested replies. Finally after six to eight months we struck our first deal and packaged up our materials for the long trip down under.

While it was a challenging start into this new market, we feel confident that the decision to expand into Australia and Oceania has been and will continue to be a profitable venture and a positive step towards fulfilling the company’s global initiatives.  Of course the success of the Australia/Southeast Asian market makes BHS a truly global company having to manage multiple time zones resulting in close to 24/7 account management. A challenge which we eagerly accept.

2012 is shaping up to be another exciting year for BHS and 2013 will no doubt be even more dynamic as we continue to position ourselves in the southeastern hemisphere, and launch further expansion opportunities in other parts of the world including here at home.

Media’s 2012 IdeaFest in Los Angeles, California. The tradeshow welcomed leading event planners and vendors from around the country to meet and exchange creative event ideas and promotions.  To give a sneak peak of our rinks to event planners, we set up an awesome booth that featured skating demonstrations by two renowned figure skaters, Yebin Mok and Gabriel Leel, performing on a smaller version of one of our rinks. Mok had a successful career as a junior, winning medals on the Junior Grand Prix circuit and placing fifth at the 2003 World Championships and Leel has had a successful career as a show skater, skating in shows like “Spellbound on Ice” and “Circus of the Century on Ice”.
